Scott Anderson was travelling and Phil Zuidema volunteered to take notes and capture images.

This is our last meeting of the 2024/2025 Minnesota Scale Flyers “Building” Season (October-April).

We had twenty (20) members and guests in attendance to share and discuss several wonderful projects.

The meeting was started on-time at 7pm by President Cal Branton with a “humorous” anecdote.

A Big Thank You ... to Phil Zuidema for taking notes and capturing some wonderful photographs.

Mike Davis Corsair Project:

Michael Davis shared his Jemco Corsair project he acquired recently. He tells us it has a K&B .40 glow engine w/Perry carb installed.

Mike estimates it may have been built somewhere around 1977.  The model has fixed gear and Mike hopes to have it flying this summer.

Brandon Archer’s SU-30 Sukhoi Project:

Brandon shared his Sukhoi SU-30 with a Russian paint scheme.  He is running a 6000 mah, 6 S battery with upgraded 70mm fans, this set-up gives him about 3˝ minutes of flight time.

He noted this model has a reputation for being a bit of a battery hog.

His paint work was exceptional using acrylic paints.  Brandon painted his pilots and scale ejection seat that looked terrific, but he will swap them out for regular flights since the canopy arrangement is a little heavy.

Dino DiGiorgio’s Sr. Warbird Event Announced:

Dino’s World Miniature Warbirds Association announced that their annual Dino DiGiorgio Sr. Memorial Warbird Event will be October 21st-24th, 2025 at Mac Hodges Field near Andersonville, Georgia!

This is a great end of the year event with many pilots travelling from Minnesota to attend. I’ll see you there!

Roy Maynard’s F-16i Sufa Project Update:

Roy Maynard updated us on the progress on his 1/5 scale F-16i Sufa project in Israeli colors.  Roy last shared this acquisition at our January 2022 meeting.  The kit was supplied by Scale-Jets in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

The kit builder told Roy he had only sold two in the US.  It sports a Jets Munt 250 turbine engine, producing about 61 lbs. of thrust. It has pneumatic brakes, a full light kit, a Demon Cortex gyro.  He covered it in Klass Kote colors, with enamel for the weathering.  It carries a total of six liters of fuel, providing an approximate 8-minute flight time.

It uses tailerons rather than ailerons in concert with the full-scale version, although Roy had programmed his Jeti radio to provide a little aileron into the flap deployment for an assist.

We’ll be looking for a flight report later this summer!

Darren Bitzer’s Century Jets Update:

Darren announced that he has purchased Century Jets from its previous owner and will make parts available again.

Contact Darren for more information.

Chris Launer’s Ordinance Works Additions:

Chris Launer shared an ordinance project which he designed and 3D printed for a client.

If you are looking for unique ordinance for your model, contact Chris to discuss feasibility/features and scale.
